How I traded tech for travel
I spent years working in technology, until COVID hit and my job eventually went with it. Instead of grabbing the first thing that came along, I took a breath and waited for the right fit. It showed up as a job planning meetings and incentive trips, and I loved it.
That's where I learned that the details make or break a trip, and that someone needs a plan B ready before anyone knows they need one. Along the way I started planning trips for friends, and it snowballed much more quickly than I ever anticipated. Before I knew it, friends of friends of friends of friends were calling, and I was hooked!
Wanderlust Travel became official in late 2023. Then in July 2025, I left the corporate world so I could spend more time exploring the real one, and I haven't looked back since! I've never enjoyed my life or my work as much as I do now that I have the freedom to do what I love at my own pace and with my own determination (which is pretty much hyper speed!). If you had told me five years ago I'd be here today, I never would have believed you.
Today I plan everything from your once-a-year getaway to cruises, all-inclusives, girls' trips, destination weddings, corporate incentives and the occasional mystery trip. Home base is Oshkosh, Wisconsin, though you'll find me in Florida a lot of the year (and on a ship whenever I can manage it).
I'm proudly partnered with Gateway Travel, so you get one-on-one service from me with the backing and supplier relationships of a larger agency. This year Gateway named me a top earner and an award winner at their Greatness Gala, which I'm still a little giddy about. In most cases my planning doesn't cost you a thing, and you'll often pay less than doing it yourself, thanks to promos and perks! And I'll always tell you honestly what I'd choose for myself.
